The Visitors center in Palm Desert. We will be helping the BLM staff spread some new ground cover as well as some light raking and trimming as needed. No need to bring any snacks or beverage as that will be provided. Please do have sturdy shoes, hat and gloves. We will be having hot dogs, snacks and beverages after the work is done. Meet at the Visitors center at 800am and we should be able to wrap it up before noon. Tue Oct 16 Club Trail Work Day (Club Event)  Meet time: 8 am

The Visitors Center parking lot at 800am, but we will be traveling up Carrizo Canyon and the Lower Art Smith Trail to do some light maintenance and grooming. This should be a light day and will be returning to the visitors center parking lot before noon. Do bring the usual working gear and snacks and water as you see fit for this trip. Thu Oct 25 Skyline Trail to the Tram's Mountain Station - Extremely Difficult! (Palm Springs)  Meet time: 5 am

This unique and challenging trail ascends approximately 8,200ft (230ft loss) in about 10 miles - the last two miles ascends 2,600ft - the steepest section overall. Views along the way Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Coachella Valley and Mt. San Gorgonio, including the natural environment (we go up through 3 life zones). Meeting location is at the west end of Ramon Road. Time of meeting 5am (could change due to weather conditions). After the all-day (8-11 hours), arduous hike, it will be my pleasure to treat everyone to a celebratory libation at the Tram's Lookout Lounge--before we take the tram down. The cost for a one-way tram car is about 12.00. I will have made arrangements for free pickup if the group is not larger than 7. If more, we will then share a cab back (about 7.00 each) to the west end of Ramon Road. Interested or Curious (inquire at least a week before the hike)? Email David for details. The Desert Lake Shore property in Thermal. This is a 40 acre property which sits next to the fish traps in Thermal. The Friends are going to be restoring the grounds so that it can be used by different civic groups for outings, picnics etc. Most of the work will be trimming and piling of vegetation for later chipping. Meeting place will be at the Beer Hunter in La Quinta ( Washington and 111) at 700am. We can convoy from there. More Details later.
