SEDONA SPRING GETAWAY A HIT

Desert Trails Hiking Club offered its fifth Spring Getaway this April and 32 members of the club jumped at the chance to spend three days in Arizona's beautiful "red rock country".  We offered four hikes a day Friday and Saturday and two on Sunday and saw some of the most spectacular scenery in the Western U.S.   The Sedona Westerners, the local hiking club, extended their hospitality to us by inviting us to join them on Saturday's Bear Mountain and Fay Canyon Overlook hike.  We offered to show them the best of Coachella Valley hiking if they ever came our way. 

Special thanks to the hike leaders at this year's Getaway…Jonelle Dedrick, Rochelle Carlton, Dee Fox, and Jane Udall….and to Lupe Luevano who arranged lodging and the restaurant choice for our one dinner together.  Mary Barlow's contacts with the Sierra Club expanded our hiking choices over the weekend, too, for which we are very grateful.

The club needs your ideas for next year's Getaway.  In the meantime, memories of this year's hiking extravaganza will remain with us for many months to come.
